25.09.2021 | Today Kerala reports 16,671 new COVID cases, 120 deaths, 14,242 recoveries

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 16,671 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, informed health department in a press release. With 120 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 24,248. A total of 1,14,242 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur-1801, Ernakulam-2500, Kozhikode- 1590, Thiruvananthapuram- 1961, Kollam-1303, Kottayam-1117, Malappuram-1200, Palakkad-1081, Alappuzha-949, Kannur-890, Pathanamthitta-849, Idukki-486, Wayanad- 661 and Kasaragod-283.

The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 841 wards of 422 local self-governments. Strict restrictions will continue in these places.

4,73,920 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,51,893 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 22,027 people are in hospitals. 18,25 people were taken to hospitals on Saturday.

Among the 1,65,154 active Covid cases reported, only 12.2 percent patients are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.

110 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 15,794 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 692 patients remains unidentified. 75 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, 14,242 recoveries were also reported in the state.

The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 2488, Kollam-141, Pathanamthitta-218, Alappuzha-1145, Kottayam-1605, Idukki-651, Ernakulam- 567, Thrissur-2496, Palakkad-711, Malappuram-1397, Kozhikode-1118, Wayanad-331, Kannur-1019, Kasaragod-355.

With this, the number of active cases touched 1,65,154 in the state. 44,23,772 were recovered from the disease so far.
