19.09.2021 | Today Kerala logs 19,653 new COVID cases, active cases decline to 1,73,631

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 19,653 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, informed health department in a press release. With 152 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 23,591.

The district – wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-2810, Thrissur-2620, Thiruvananthapuram- 2105, Kozhikode- 1957, Palakkad-1593, Kollam-1392, Malappuram-1387, Kottayam-1288, Alappuzha-1270, Kannur-856, Idukki-843, Pathanamthitta-826, Wayanad-443 and Kasaragod-263.

A total of 1,13,295 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 8 in 2507 wards in 678 local self-governments.

5,12,854 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,87,587 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 25,267 people are in hospitals. 1906 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.

Among the 1,73,631 active Covid cases reported, only 13.3 percent patients are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.

105 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 18,657 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 807 patients remains unidentified. 84 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, 26,711 recoveries were also reported in the state.

The district – wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram –2180, Kollam-1349, Pathanamthitta- 1117, Alappuzha-1414, Kottayam-1434, Idukki-1146, Ernakulam-5708, Thrissur- 2584, Palakkad-1450, Malappuram- 2514, Kozhikode-3065, Wayanad-976, Kannur-1191 and Kasaragod-483.

With this, the number of active cases touched 1,73,631 in the state. 43,10,674 were recovered from the disease so far.
